Phase One Cathedral reopening and attendance policy

We are  pleased  to announce that as a result of recent announcements by Governor John Bell Edwards and Mayor Latoya Cantrell, we are now allowed to have 100 participants at our 11 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Those attending are asked to wear masks and observe the 6 foot social distancing mandate.  It is requested that communion be received in the hand and of course social distancing must be observed while in the communion line. We ask that those who are not feeling well refrain from attending.  We will continue to offer the televised Mass for those of you who are not yet ready or unable to venture out at this time.  Cathedral seating will be designated by reserved signs and pew markers indicating location.  Families may be seated together.  The Archbishop’s dispensation from Sunday obligation remains in effect during this pandemic. While this seems like a small step we are moving in a positive direction and pray that mandates will lessen as we move towards phase two of this recovery process.

Beginning on Friday, the Cathedral will be open daily from 10-3 provided mandates are observed. Daily Mass will be celebrated at 12:05 p.m. on Monday-Friday and attendance at these Masses can fulfill your Sunday obligation should you not feel comfortable with the size of the assembly on Sunday.
